Ceol Na Mara Guest House History

Bursting with history and heritage, this guest house was originally built in the early part of the 20th Century and during the 1970s and 80s it fell into considerable disrepair. In 1996, a major refurbishment took place to bring the property back to life and improve the standard of the guest house.

The hotel is named after the sound of water hitting rocks, called ‘Ceol Na Mara’ which is Scots Gaelic for ‘Music of the Sea’. The property has retained many of its traditional features including the staircase, resident’s lounge fireplace and the exterior walls, which all add to the character of the building.

A three storey extension was later built which joined onto the original structure. This completed the building’s renovation and today, Ceol Na Mara comprises of a ground floor, first and second floor.
