We’re shining the spotlight on Yorkshire and all it has to offer the leisure and business guest for Yorkshire Day, taking place today (Wednesday 1 August). With the aim to promote the wonderful history behind the largest county in the UK, we wanted to showcase a variety of destinations ticking all the boxes for the ultimate few days away.

Offering one of the best coastlines in the UK, Yorkshire is ideal for those wanting to grab a bucket and spade and head to the seaside. Whether it’s surfing, swimming, fishing or to catch a tan, we’ve rounded up three possible options for a coastal getaway!
Bridlington
With a minor sea fishing port and a working harbour, you’ll be stuck for choice when it comes to visiting the local beach with no one but two in the area!
North beach boasts fantastic views of the chalk cliffs of Famborough Headland where you can spot many different seabirds, whereas the south beach stretches for one mile long and with the Princess Mary Promenade running behind the beach and with plenty of cafes and places to eat, it provides the perfect backdrop for a beachside walk.
Whitby
Split by the River Esk, Whitby is a popular seaside town with plenty of things to do, places to eat and hotels to stay in! The town’s skyline is dominated by ruins of St. Hilda’s Abbey, high on the East Cliff, and this of course was the place which fuelled Bram Stoker’s inspiration for the famous novel Dracula!
If you’ve had enough of the sunshine and seaside for one day, the Captain Cook Museum is nearby, in the house where Cook once lived.
Scarborough
Stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and great entertainment awaits in this family-friendly resort town located on England’s North Sea coast. A popular destination for families due to the huge variety of things to do and see, including Scarborough Sealife Sanctuary, Peasham Park and Alpamore Waterpark which is certain to keep the little ones entertained!

York
