Our journey begins in Sheffield at the historic Mosborough Hall. Ownership of the Hall dates back to 1180 when Robert de Stutville, the High Sheriff of Yorkshire, held it. Over the years, various Lords of the Manor owned the Hall until 1420, when Henry V granted the Manor of Mosborough to Robert Carey, a knight who defeated a Spanish knight.
Fast forward to 1496, and William Carey, son of Robert, was born at Mosborough Hall. William later married Mary Boleyn, the older sister of Anne Boleyn. In 1525, Mary gave birth to a son, allegedly fathered by King Henry VIII.
